Pure Obsession

The exhibition Pure Obsession presents Paulina Skavova's work at a moment when her long – standing exploration of the figure comes into sharp focus. Glass emerges as a medium of extreme discipline, both technical and expressive. Within it, every artistic gesture becomes definitive, and every imperfection an indelible part of the form. "Pure obsession" should therefore be understood not merely as a sign of emotional intensity, but as a working method. In this context, obsession denotes a patient commitment to the prin- ciples of a deeply internalised artistic vision. The individual works are not autonomous entities, but articulations of a single problem at different stages of its resolution. The obsessive nature of this approach reveals itself precisely in its open-endedness. At the same time, glass fundamentally transforms the ontology of sculptural matter. Its trans – parency disrupts the notion of volume as a closed body, opening it instead to the agency of light. The figure no longer carries a fixed meaning, but becomes a shifting optical situation in which light is refracted or diffused. Expression does not arise from form alone, but from the relationship between the sculpture and its perception. Pure Obsession thus articulates a specific notion of perfection. This quality is not an end in itself, but a higher ideal. The obsessive engagement with form becomes a process of refinenent, not as stylisation, but as a sustained search for clarity and the highest forms of beauty The artist does not create objects that invite straightforward interpretation, even when they depict identifiable subjects. Glass becomes the medium in which everything converges - concentrated, disciplined, whole. The result is born of precision and pure obsession.
