Mickey Was Born

Mickey Was Born fulfils the artist's fascination with pop-culture symbols, not so much their symbolism, but their iconicity, which is written deep in the human brain since early childhood. "It's fascinating to observe a viewer across generations who recognizes an icon just by a piece of their ear. The glass has given a completely different dimension to the whole object, as one can observe the surface in the egg due to its transparent properties," comments Pasta Oner. The work is based on the artist's original design made of lacquered laminate from 2015 and was first exhibited in a solo show in the Mánes Gallery in Prague.
