Mickey Was Born

Mickey Was Born taps into the artist’s fascination by pop-cultural symbols, focusing on their iconicity rather than their symbolism, deeply embedded in the human brain since early childhood. “It’s amazing to observe spectators across generations who will recognize an icon just from a detail of the ear. Glass gave a completely different dimension to the entire object, as you can see the level in the egg thanks to the transparent properties of glass,” comments Pasta Oner. Based on the artist’s original design made of lacquered laminate in 2015, presented at his solo exhibition at Galerie Mánes in Prague, the artwork also includes an artfully concealed jewel case made of black ebony wood.
