On a Knife’s Edge

The object depicts a fruit bowl expanding from an ice skate which we tend to tighten to make it firm on the foot. Artist Jiří Černický intensively explores the phenomenon of dynamics in contexts unexpected by the spectators. This dish can thus bring intriguing excitement or even tension into a home usually associated with tranquility and stability. The polished glass blade of the skate aptly captures the instability of the object where must be careful not to cut ourselves. The inscription on the skate alludes to the “emptiness” of sports clubs.
